Happy October! The changing leaves and a few days of much-anticipated rain have been treating us to fantastic fall conditions. The air is crisp, the trails are well-hydrated, and our team has been making the rounds with the leaf blowers to keep your tires one with the dirt.

As temperatures get colder, don’t forget that our COVID-19 guidelines are still in effect. Day passes are limited and must be reserved online in advance. Passes consistently sell out on Saturdays and Sundays, so make sure you’re planning ahead!

2021 Season Passes are now on sale! Get yours today and ride for the remainder of the 2020 season and all of 2021. (Season pass holders do not have to reserve day passes in advance.) We offer a variety of season pass products so you can choose the one that best fits your riding style.

Prices go up on November 16, so treat yourself now for early bird savings and the most possible days to ride!

Trail Crew is continuing to make progress on Lower NE Style. A few weeks ago we opened up Stepping Stone, a new drop adjacent to Tombstone. About twelve feet out and eight feet down, it was designed to serve as a (wait for it) stepping stone for riders who are working their way up toward hitting the Tombstone drop.

This month, you’ll see the crew moving further down the hill as we get closer and closer to finishing the full top-to-bottom run. We’ll keep opening up new segments of trail for you to enjoy as they’re completed.

Speaking of Trail Crew, they are the stars of the most recent episode of Highland is Home! In this episode, James, Jordan, Whitney, Zach, and Justin all share what brought them to Highland and what they love about creating and maintaining the trails you love to ride. They’ll take you off the beaten path to shred some of their favorite, often-overlooked lines. Check it out here.

There are three chances to race this month! Take advantage of our new chip timing system to race against yourself and your friends.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RACING: What goes up must come down! We’re hosting two more Wednesduro races in October, on the 7th and the 21st. There are still spots available for tonight’s race on Faux Pine, so if you’re not afraid of a little rain come on out and get after it. Register here.

“GO TO HELLION” RACE: Join us on Saturday, October 31 for a Halloween race down Hellion! Costumes strongly encouraged. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in male and female racer categories, as well as the three best costumes (as judged by our team.) All proceeds will benefit Wings for Life. Learn more and register here.

2020 has turned out to be a breakout year for downhill mountain biking! After being open seven days a week from the end of May all the way through September, our team has had no trouble staying busy. We were able to run the lift for some well-deserved employee appreciation laps this week. Now that we’ve had a couple of days to unwind, we’re ready to finish the season with a flourish.

There really is nothing quite like fall at Highland. Come join us in taking advantage of those crisp fall laps for as long as Mother Nature allows. (And if you see any of our patrollers sitting pretty out along the trails, be sure to give them a wave.) We’ll see you on the hill!
