Women’s Gravity Weekender 2017

Women’s Gravity Weekender 2017

Saturday, May 13th–Sunday, May 14th Saturday was an especially exciting day at the park as female riders from as far away as Michigan arrived for the annual Women’s Gravity Weekender event. This year saw record numbers and even more progression. The day started out in the Park Ready Zone and ended with massive lady trains down trail favorites such as Cat’s Paw, Happy Hour, and Fancy Feast. Giggles resonated throughout the woods as women shared their family’s reactions to their choice of Mother’s Day activity. The positive energy was contagious and only continued to build as riders worked through rock gardens, drops, and jumps. The freshly built Freedom Trail provided the perfect introduction to downhill as many of the women were experiencing chairlift assisted downhill for the first time. As riders gained confidence they were able to explore the rest of the mountain guided by Highland’s top female coaches. With…

OverMountain Results | Triple Crown Enduro Finals

Photos and words by: Jeb Wallace-Brodeur Against a tapestry of autumnal foliage, and with winter knocking on the door, the Triple Crown Eastern Enduro Series wrapped up this past weekend with a wild day of racing at Highland Mountain in New Hampshire. Nearly 150 racers battled the weather and the competition to claim podium spots for the third leg of the series and the overall Triple Crown title. Rain soaked the mountain on Saturday afternoon and temperatures hovered around 40 degrees with a stiff north wind on race morning, but riders were unfazed and ready to roll when start times were called. The first stage was the longest of the day and incorporated the rugged, rolling steeps of Faux Pine followed by the rambling Stump Line and the pedally 820. A long transfer, the first of three on the day, brought racers back to the top of the mountain. Stage…
