Oct 7th: Rampage After The Rampage Party

Come watch the premiere big mountain freeride event of the year – Red Bull Rampage: The Evolution. We’ll have the Live Webcast rolling on all the TV’s in the lodge this Sunday the 7th, starting at 2pm EST. The Highland Cafe and Bar will be open as normal, with an additional BBQ starting at 5:30pm. What could be better than Rampage, grilled burgers and beers with friends? There’s no need to rush home after either, as Deja Voodo, a new local band goes on at 7pm to keep the Rampage After The Rampage Party alive. Hang out, enjoy the atmosphere and catch the highlights of this year’s Rampage. Make sure to save some energy for Monday though. The park will be open Monday for the Columbus Day holiday, so bring plenty of gear. With Thursday hours continuing for the month of October, and dialed trails, we are staged for a 5-day weekend of great riding…

Grand Prix Race Course Preview

Here at Highland Mountain Bike Park we are staged for a great weekend of racing as the Grand Prix comes to town. People have steadily been rolling in and the parking lot is filling up with trailers and sprinter van’s from around the nation. Last night’s rain combined with the even more course maintenance this morning leave us with one of the best looking race courses we’ve ever seen. Check out the course preview (filmed earlier this week) to get a taste of this weekend’s course and all of the improvements the trail crew has made. With a new fresh cut section, new high speed bottom section and improvements all around the course is running good as ever. Hope to see everyone out there this weekend racing and showing their Fourth of July spirit. Highland Mountain Bike Park – Grand Prix Course Preview from Highland Mountain Bike Park on Vimeo.

Bone Saw! (new trail picture update)

Yesterday I got to spend the majority of my day with trail crew helping build yet another new trail! Bone Saw is going to be the newest addition to the highland mountain trail family. It is an expert trail that will have a little of every type of riding in it! With two large drops, a few jumps and other features this trail is already shaping up to be possibly our raddest trail yet! I spent the day snapping pictures of what has been done so far so sit back and enjoy! -Dylan

Easy Rider Junior, The non lift access kid friendly trail

As you know we have just recently completed our huge project of building the new lift access kid friendly trail “Easy Rider.” This is huge to help progress our sport by giving beginners a trail that can really foster learning bike skills in a safe environment. Even with easy rider being so safe and controlled, jumping into a trail like that can still be very intimidating and overwhelming so we created a non lift access kid friendly trail on the hill. This is a great trail to bring a first timer onto before actually taking them up the lift. It’s a great spot to teach the fundamentals without all the pressure. The trail starts above the upper jump park and connects with the pre existing rollers and berms below the dual slalom course. Check out some pictures below and remember to bring the kids next time you come out to…

Amateur Slopestyle Competition: Video, Results, and more!

Today was an epic day at highland. All day it seemed rain was approaching off in the distance but it stayed far away for the full day leaving the slopestyle course sunny and hot! Right from the beginning of practice riders were throwing down. The rider pool was not what you would expect to see at a slopestyle event, with around half of the riders being over 30 it was a cool sight to see. And these guys didn’t hold back giving the young guns a run for their money but at the end of the day it was the young guns that took the podium. Highland bike shop employees Chad “Steak” Deluca and Chris “green tires” Chimeilewski taking fourth and third, Highland regular rider Chad Allen taking second and in first another Highland regular, Aaron Hamel. It was an epic vibe with all the riders and the competition was…

Team Highland At Windham

This past weekend Team Highland headed up to the Windham World Cup of mountainbiking to race the Gravity East race. Friday morning Damon was told he was chosen to be a four runner for the World Cup. He was able to practice on the coarse with the pros and did a run to test timing before qualifying and the race. It was a great opportunity for Damon and an awesome experience. Coming into the race Sam Wiggin was looking quick and was on pace to win but clipped something in an open section and put him out of contentions. After rolling through the woods Sam got back on the bike and was only 26 seconds off the win showing he had the speed to be top three easily. Chuck, battling a foot injury also managed to crash in his run but still pulled of a third showing he is one…
