Red Bull Rampage: The Evolution

Here at Highland we’re still catching our breath after the Red Bull Rampage; congrats to this year’s champ Kurt Sorge! Ayr Academy coach Tyler McCaul had arguably one of the most fun and high amplitude runs to watch, and we can’t wait to have him back to the park to shred! Remember that video of Kyle Strait here at the park foldin’ tire knobs he was shredding so hard? Well it turns out the former Rampage winner likes to go HUGE too! Much appreciation goes out to Red Bull for helping to make progressive freeride events like the Claymore Challenge and Red Bull Rampage: The Evolution possible. The FMB World Tour season began for us with spring training hosted here at Highland Mountain Bike Park, and we’ve got to give a shout-out to Brett Rheeder for his breakout season. We can’t wait to see what he’s got in his bag of…

2012 Brodown Showdown Wrap Up

Riders of all ability levels showed up this past Saturday for the 2012 Brodown Showdown. All of the work that Rob and the Highland Trail Crew have been putting in showed as riders got their first look at a new advanced dirt jump zone, beginner jump line and pump track. The plan is to offer jumps of all sizes for riders to learn and progress their skills on. The new beginner line was running great with riders as young as 8 years old to riders in their 50’s practicing their style. Advanced riders threw down, on the first of many lines to come, in a jam style format and everyone had a chance to win great prizes from our sponsors: Camelback, Geax, Go Pro, Kali Protectives, Jett and Native.   photo: Dave Smutok This year’s Brodown saw more riders’ than ever before, and the new beginner table jump line might…
